Theosophy is a doctrine of religious philosophy and metaphysics. Theosophy holds that all religions are attempts by the "Spiritual Hierarchy" to help humanity in evolving to greater perfection, and that each religion therefore has a portion of the truth. The founding members, Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (1831–91), Henry Steel Olcott (1832–1907), and William Quan Judge (1851–96), established the Theosophical Society in 1875.
Kandinsky was a follower and tried to base his art in its principles.

You are barking up my tree today. I studied Blavatsky for a bit. I did not know that Kandinsky was a follower.
ReplyDeleteI looked into the Madame and theosophy because from a little girl I felt that there was truth underneath religion, which I think she was getting at. She still was odd, like so many gurus.
It's a gorgeous Kandinsky, which I haven't seen.
weekend is starting now, no more posts...I have to better check teosophy because I so like Kandinsky.
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine has in her Facebook religion entry : I believe in God but I spell it nature.
I just don't know Rome is very worried because Pagan Gods are taking hold of us all again...but I see your point even I had an epiphany one day, I will write about it, later.
