medos

"Tememos a morte, sim.

sometimes I feel like a motherless child...

self taught

Rachel Freire is a London based designer with a background in fine art whose debut fashion collection was presented at London Fashion Week with On|Off in February 2009 at the Science Museum in London.
Already her work has been seen in publications such as Dazed and Confused, AnOther, Zink, Issue One, Sublime, Timeout London, Juxtapoz, Illustrated Ape, Art Business Today and Metro London.
Educated at Central Saint Martins, she graduated in 2006 with a BA in Theatre Design. Rachel is self taught in pattern cutting and tailoring and has never studied fashion. Her influences stem from her love of historical costume combined with futuristic imagery. Militaristic accents compliment the meticulous construction of each garment. Behind the dramatic silhouettes and decadent embellishments, the pieces are designed to be wearable, durable, feminine and flattering.
..
'This London based designer certainly knows how to put on a show. As the final model exits the stage, I can’t wait to see her new designs....her fine art conceptual imagery and imaginative pieces are truly eye catching.'

..
'But it was Rachel Freire that took the breath away, with a debut fashion collection that featured sci-fi warrior queens, trussed up in beige body suits, with huge armour-like shrugs, leg bandages and the most wholeheartedly aggressive shoe boots that we have ever seen.'

Let their lives come down in multiple colours

“Just for the applaud of common people
They tear themselves into pieces
Let their lives
Come down in multiple colours.”

the demon of speed

Distance has collapsed and time shattered,
the demon of speed has put its feet on the peaks
of the highest mountains and diverted the brooks,
poisoned seeds fell on the earth,
poisoned fluid flew in the branches.
The powerful tribe of humans has died out,
all knew that the end was imminent.

Anna Akhmatova, 1960

Blade runner

"During his investigation, Deckard learns that replicants are provided implanted memories, and he uses this fact to help Rachael understand the truth about her origins by quoting one of the memory vignettes that were programmed into her. Likewise, Gaff (Edward James Olmos), the mysterious police officer that has been following Deckard around throughout the investigation, seems to know about Deckard's unicorn dream when he leaves an origami unicorn outside of Deckard's apartment at the end of the film. The only way that Gaff could have known about Deckard's private thoughts would be if Deckard was a replicant, and that the unicorn dream was one of the standard memory implants that he possessed."
interesting read, here
