Act locally

Don't just talk about it, start doing it...

"VAUBAN, Germany — Residents of this upscale community are suburban pioneers, going where few soccer moms or commuting executives have ever gone before: they have given up their cars."

  1. Apparently, lots of people are doing it already, if not only because it's cheaper.

Such schemes, however, will never be widely possible without an adequate and favourable global strategy, efficient concerted planning and significant investment. Not a lot of people can live without a car when there's no nearby buses, trams or trains and nothing (services, shops, doctors,...)is within walking distance.

  2. So you start to act locally, besides the local council is one of the elections you can run to organized in groups of citizens, not only as a political party.
You influence the local planning - but yes you have to plan regionally, to take all things into account...

  3. I guess you're right. Didn't understand you the first time, thought you were telling us to just drop our cars and start cycling!
