Velório

Um grupo de homens conversa cá fora ao fresco, os que vão chegando cumprimentam-nos, demoram-se um pouco a conversar.
Pelos gestos, o balanço dos corpos, um sorriso ou outro, percebe-se que o falecido já tinha idade, foi no seu tempo : - É melhor assim, coitadito, já não sofre mais...

James Ensor (1860–1949) was a major figure in the Belgian avant-garde of the late nineteenth century and an important precursor to the development of Expressionism in the early twentieth. In both respects he has influenced generations of later artists. This exhibition presents approximately 120 works, examining Ensor's contribution to modernity, his innovative and allegorical use of light, his prominent use of satire, his deep interest in carnival and performance, and his own self-fashioning and use of masking, travesty, and role-playing.

The character 無 in seal script.Mu (Japanese/Korean), and Wu (Chinese traditional: 無, simplified: 无 pinyin: wú Jyutping: mou2) is a word which has been roughly translated as "no", "none", "null", "without", "no meaning". While used in Japanese and Chinese mainly as a prefix to imply the absence of something (e.g., 無線/无线 musen/wúxiàn for "wireless"), in English it is more famously used as a response to certain koans and other questions in Zen Buddhism, intending to indicate that the question itself was wrong.

The Mu koan is as follows: A monk asked Zhaozhou, a Chinese Zen master (known as Jōshū in Japanese): "Has a dog Buddha-nature or not?", Zhaozhou answered: "Wú" (in Japanese, Mu).

Some earlier Buddhist thinkers had maintained that creatures such as dogs did have the Buddha-nature; others, that they did not. Therefore, to answer "no" is to deny their wisdom, whereas to say "yes" would appear to blindly follow their teachings. Zhaozhou's answer has subsequently been interpreted to mean that all such categorical thinking is in fact a delusion. In other words, yes and no are both right and wrong. This Koan is traditionally used by students of the Rinzai school of Zen as their initiation into Zen study.

Bom dia

Um senhor passeia-se pela livraria, ostentando um lindo capachinho castanho que contrasta com as suas patilhas brancas, uma senhora que não se esforça por esconder a idade real, segue-o silenciosamente.
Devemos ser aquilo que somos ou o que queremos ser ? Escolher uma concha e navegar vida fora com ela, imutáveis até ao fim, ou deixar que o tempo e a idade mostrem-se na nossa persona ?
Sempre que saímos da cama pela manhã e encaramos o espelho, iniciamos o processo de reencarnação, eu sou eu outra vez.

Frangos



Acabaremos todos como frangos no supermercado : despidos de vaidades e ilusões.

As primeiras casas construiram afastadas do rio, no sopé da colina onde ergueram a igreja e ficou o cemitério.
Mais tarde, quando conseguiram dominar o rio, levaram as casas até à sua margem.
O rio levava e trazia gente e mercadoria, com o passar do tempo tudo isso acabou.
Hoje as casas erguem-se mesmo no vale onde corriam as ribeiras, acompanham as estradas que seguem para o interior, sobem as colinas vizinhas, estão por todo o lado, onde antes havia quintas de pão, vinho e fruta.
As pessoas não páram, andam de um lado para o outro, chegam pela tardinha, enfiam-se nas casas donde saem manhã cedo. Antigamente, havia bulício nas ruas, conversas até a noite refrescar e brincadeiras dos cachopos, muita correria atrás das bolas, gritos e risos.

Malick Sidibé (born 1935 or 1936) is Malian photographer noted for his black-and-white studies of popular culture in the 1960s in Bamako. He was born in Soloba, Mali and completed his studies in design and jewelry in the École des Artisans Soudanais (now the Institut National des Arts) in Bamako. In 1955, he undertook an apprenticeship at Gérard Guillat-Guignard's Photo Service Boutique, also known as Gégé la pellicule.

In 1958, he opened his own studio (Studio Malick) in Bamako and specialized in documentary photography, focussing particularly on the youth culture of the Malian capital. In the 1970s, he turned towards the making of studio portraits.

Sidibé was able to increase his reputation through the first meetings on African photography in Mali in 1994. His work is now exhibited in Europe (for example, the Fondation Cartier in Paris), the United States and Japan.

Mudar a vida

A senhora que caminha à minha frente à saída do metro, fá-lo de cabeça baixa, quando a passo reparo que continua a ler. Lê decerto o livro que lhe tem feito companhia por estes dias...Lembro-me de icebergues, de correntes profundas, coisas que não se vêm mas influenciam as nossas vidas, as de cada um e as de todos.
Ontem, envolvi-me numa série de comentários sobre um post do Facebook, onde se realçava a importância da participação das mulheres na luta pela democracia no Irão. Muitos silêncios terão passado, muitos baixar de olhos e suspiros de resignação, mas cheio o saco, feito o caminho, a parte visível do icebergue, brilha agora à luz do dia e é branca e pura, aguçada como um punhal e já começaram a mudar vidas.

Fruitarianism



Fruitarians (or fructarians) eat in principle only the fruit of plants.

Some people whose diet is not 100% fruit, consider themselves fruitarian, if their diet is 75% or more fruit.

When discussing food, the term "fruit" usually refers to just those plant fruits that are sweet and fleshy (for example, plums, apples, and oranges). Botanically, though, some foods not typically considered fruits—including bell peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, nuts and grains—are fruits.

Fruitarians use differing definitions of what is considered a "fruit."


Definition of fruitarian
Some fruitarians will eat only what falls (or would fall) naturally from a plant, that is: foods that can be harvested without killing the plant. These foods consist primarily of culinary fruits, nuts, and seeds. Some do not eat grains, believing it is unnatural to do so, and some fruitarians feel that it is improper for humans to eat seeds. Others believe they should eat only plants that spread seeds when the plant is eaten. Others eat seeds and some cooked foods.

Some fruitarians use the botanical definitions of fruits and consume pulses, such as many beans and peas, while others include green leafy vegetables and/or root vegetables in their diet.


Motivation
Some fruitarians believe fruitarianism was the original diet of mankind in the form of Adam and Eve based on Genesis 1:29.[8] They believe that a return to an Eden-like paradise will require simple living and a holistic approach to health and diet. Some fruitarians wish to avoid killing in all its forms, including plants.

Some fruitarians say that eating some types of fruit does the parent plant a favor and that fleshy fruit has evolved to be eaten by animals, to achieve seed dispersal.

Amas alguém ou simplesmente admiras alguém e queres dar algo, algo que seja único, seja teu e permaneça enquanto afirmação do teu sentimento.
É muito simples e muito complicado, ao mesmo tempo - não podes, simplesmente, arrancar o coração do peito, não seria próprio.

Nascemos

Um pequeno animal peludo foge correndo pela minha esquerda, a cadela à minha frente não deu por nada - sobe feliz o monte, adora vir aqui, tal como eu.
Nascemos todos os dias e continuamos a fazer as mesmas coisas, a vir aos mesmos sitios e vemos as mesmas pedras, as mesmas árvores e as mesmas plantas.
Ou não serão as mesmas pedras, plantas e árvores, e somos nós é que achamos que são ?!
Na verdade tudo muda, as plantas morrem e renascem de novo, as árvores mudam de folhagem, ganham ramos novos e deixam caír outros. Mesmo as pedras no Inverno, estão cobertas de musgo verde e são veludo e agora voltam a ganhar as suas arestas agudas de pedra, os caminhos aparecem e desaparecem sobre o mato.
Nascemos todos os dias e nunca perguntamos porquê.
